Who I am
As a musical poet on a mission to blend the multitude of her talents, producer, composer and singer-songwriter Tippy Morgan has secured a spot as one of the rising stars within the contemporary music arena. Her four-octave range, authentic musicianship and production skills come together in a euphonic display of artistic versatility, receiving praise from the likes of Janie Bradford and Ray Parker Jr.
Born in Los Angeles but later growing up in Memphis, TN, Tippy Morgan was initiated into music by her mother, an artist, composer and producer from the Motown era. By the age of 11, she had already written and directed her own play, and although destined for a life in the entertainment industry, she continued to excel in school and eventually graduated from college Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Marketing.
Making music as a form of self-expression, her distinctive fusion of R&B and Pop radiates sensual, yet somber and emotionally intense moods, highlighting the diversity she brings to the table. As well as writing, composing and producing her music from her home studio, she processes her own vocal production, enjoying creating lush harmonies and vocal stacks that have become part and parcel of her signature sound.
Aside from her musical talents, Tippy Morgan’s has a fully-fledged modelling career, has worked as a creator, writer and editor of the political blog ‘The JNotes’ and even spent a year serving as a national political organizer for the Obama campaign in 2008.
Her next project, titled ‘The Comedown EP’, is being released on her own independent label, Dark Horse Music. The dreamy, moody, and emotionally vulnerable piece of work is the perfect encapsulation of Tippy Morgan’s musical talents and where she is currently at as an artist.
